Taro Roots Stir Fry


1/2 kg Taro roots, 1 tablespoon gram flour, 1 teaspoon coiander powder, chilli powder, half teaspoon fennel powder, dry mango powder, 1/4t¼ po on turmeric powder, a pinch asafoetida, 4 tablespoon oil, salt to taste, curry leaves and coriander leaves.


  • Boil Taro roots with salt
  • Peal the skin of the taro roots and cut them into half.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add fennel powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder, chilli powder, and turmeric powder.
  • Heat it in low flame and add gram flour
  • Fry for 2 more minutes and add the boiled taro roots.
  • Stir it for 5 more minutes and add salt and Asafoetida powder.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and curry leaves and taro root stir fry is then ready.

Taro Roots Curry



Half kg Taro roots, 1 onion, 1 tomato, 1/3 cups chopped coriander leaves, 4 tablespoon cooking oil, ½ tsp cumin seeds, 1/3 tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp red chilli, 1/3 tsp coriander powder, 1/3 tsp cumin powder, 1/3 tsp garam masala powder and salt to taste, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.


  • Apply salt on taro roots and leave it for 10-15 minutes to get rid of the sliminess.
  • Wash the taro roots and then cut it into half, depending on the size of the taro you can cut it according to your choice.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and add the taro roots.
  • Fry it in medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Once the color of taro roots changes take it out of the pan.
  • Add some more oil and once it’s heated add cumin seeds
  • Add chopped onion and once the onion is fried a bit add ginger garlic paste.
  • Cook it for 1 more minute.
  • Reduce the flame and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and cumin powder. Stir it well and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes in low flame.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and salt to taste.
  • Cover the pan and cook it for 3 to 4 minutes and mix it well.
  • Add the fried taro roots and then cook it for 15 minutes. Keep stirring it in between.
  • Before switching off the flame add chopped coriander powder and Spices mixture.
  • Cook it for some more time and serve it with any Indian bread.
