Skin Care tips to keep your skin hydrating this Summer

Skin is the largest organ of our body, it covers our whole body. It protects our body from every kind of infection, microbes. Our skin provides a protective barrier against mechanical, thermal, and physical injury and hazardous substances. Prevents loss of moisture. Reduces harmful effects of UV radiation. Acts as a sensory organ (touch, detects temperature). Helps regulate temperature.

 

What is skin made up of? Skin is the largest organ on our body, made up of several different parts, including water, protein, lipids (fats), and different minerals and chemicals. Throughout your life, your skin will change, for better or worse. In fact, your skin regenerates itself approximately every 27 days.

Why does my skin break in summer? People tend to break out in the summertime because the hot, humid weather means more sweating and oil accumulation on the skin. Ultimately, this means more food to feed acne and block pores.

 

Common skin problems in summer

  • Rash: Nearly any change in the skin’s appearance can be called a rash. Most rashes are from simple skin irritation; others result from medical conditions.
  • Dermatitis: A general term for inflammation of the skin. Atopic dermatitis (a type of eczema) is the most common form.
  • Eczema: Skin inflammation causing an itchy rash. Most often, it’s due to an overactive immune system
  • Dandruff: A scaly condition of the scalp may be caused by seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, or eczema.
  • Acne: The most common skin condition, acne affects over 85% of people at some time in life.
  • Cellulitis: Inflammation of the dermis and subcutaneous tissues, usually due to an infection. A red, warm, often painful skin rash generally results.
  • Warts: A virus infects the skin and causes the skin to grow excessively, creating a wart. Warts may be treated at home with chemicals, duct tape, or freezing, or removed by a physician.
  • Herpes: The herpes viruses HSV-1 and HSV-2 can cause periodic blisters or skin irritation around the lips or the genitals.
  • Hives: Raised, red, itchy patches on the skin that arise suddenly. Hives usually result from an allergic reaction.
  • Ringworm: A fungal skin infection (also called tinea). The characteristic rings it creates are not due to worms.

SKINCARE TIPS

Hydrate your body with a lotion
Find a summery lotion that you won’t forget to put on. It’s time to pack away your thick winter body butter for more light summery lotions. You don’t have time to wait for your lotion to sink in, so look for something light fast absorbing.
Go for minimal make-up
During summers less make-up is best. Under the intolerant sun, natural looks are best. If you intend to use foundation then also apply face powder with SPF to avoid patchy skin. To protect your lips always use a gloss or a lip balm with an SPF of 15 to make your lips fresher. Eye make is something which should be very much avoided in summers.
Make water your best friend
At least 8 glasses of water are needed. If possible, carry a water bottle with you and remember to drink at least once every 30 min. Water not only helps you feel fresh, but it also prevents dehydration and will help wash out a lot of toxins.
 Exfoliate your body
The ground rule of basic skincare is to exfoliate your skin. Your body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you don’t get rid of them, they’ll just set in on your skin making you look dull and dry. No matter how much lotion you use, you’re never going to have glowing skin if you don’t exfoliate. Grab a body scrub and hit the shower. Gently rub your exfoliator in circular movements on your entire body from the shoulders down.
