Rose Water : Benefits and Uses

Rosewater is water made by steeping rose petals in water. Commonly, it is known as Gulab. It is used to flavor the food, as a component in some cosmetics, and for many religious purposes.

Rosewater has a medicinal value too. Rosewater is fragrant, and it’s sometimes used as a mild natural fragrance.

 

How to make rose water?

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the rose petals and water.
  2. Cover and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce the temperature to the lowest setting that still allows the water to simmer.
  4. Simmer until the color of the rose petals has faded.
  5. Leave the lid on and cool completely.

 

 

Is Rosewater a toner?

Rosewater is, indeed, a natural toner. The Rosa damascena flower, commonly known as the Damask rose, is created by distilling rose petals with steam.

You can also use rose water as a moisturizer. Mix six tablespoons of rose water with two tablespoons of coconut oil and two tablespoons of glycerin. Bottle it and use it as a regular moisturizer. You can use it once or twice a day.
